Recently I was doing some searching
to see if I could track down the Jake Speed novelization. I've never found a
copy for sale and I was starting to think that it was a rumour based on the
prop books used in the movie.
However I had a look at the imdb message boards for the movie and Wayne Crawford (the actor and co-writer of the film) comments on some of the threads including this one.
Wayne confirms that the novelization happened.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that part of the advertising for the film was a four strip prequel comic featuring Jake Speed against Dr Kanker which can be found here
As far as I could find Jake Speed hasn't been used much in fanfic but I did use him in my story The Interview

I see that Amazon, B&N, and Goodreads and elsewhere advertise the novel, but all state not available. A shame. Is Melon a real person?
ReplyDeleteNo according to the movie it's the pen name that Jake and Des use to write the books. It comes from Jake's favourite city and Des' favourite breakfast food.
ReplyDeleteI watched the movie again last night and caught it this time. A play on words (LOL). Neat. Thanks.
